Pie Perfection: Why Steak Pies are UK’s Favourite Comfort Food

Alright, folks, let’s chat about the undeniable hero of British comfort food – the steak pie. Now, if you’ve ever wondered why these hearty delights are such a hit across the UK, buckle up and let’s explore what makes them so darn irresistible.

First off, let’s talk about the star of the show – the succulent steak. Picture this: tender chunks of award-winning steak, cooked to perfection with onions and carrots, all swimming in a rich, velvety gravy. It’s like a warm hug for your taste buds, guaranteed to satisfy even the most insatiable hunger pangs.

But what sets our steak pies apart from the rest? Well, for starters, it’s all about the quality. We believe in using only the finest ingredients, sourced locally wherever possible, to ensure that every pie that leaves our bakery is a true masterpiece. From the first bite to the last, you’ll taste the difference that handmade goodness makes.

Now, let’s consider variety – because when it comes to steak pies, we’ve got options for days. Whether you’re craving the classic steak and onion combo or something a little more adventurous like our pulled beef and ale pie, there’s a flavour for every palate and every occasion. And with our steak and rosemary potato pie, you get the added bonus of mouth-watering rosemary potatoes, elevating the humble steak pie to new heights of deliciousness.

But perhaps the real reason why steak pies have captured the hearts (and stomachs) of the nation is because they’re more than just a meal – they’re a taste of home. Whether you’re enjoying a pie with friends at your local pub or sharing one with family around the dinner table, there’s something inherently comforting about steak pies that brings people together.

So there you have it, folks – the irresistible allure of steak pies, explained. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the world of pies, one thing’s for sure: once you’ve experienced the joy of sinking your teeth into a piping hot steak pie, there’s no turning back.

You can try all three of our delicious beef pie flavours in our ‘Got Beef’ selection box, or Build Your Own Box.

Happy pie-eating!

Important News: The Hull Pie is Closing

Hi Pie lovers, Matt here. Happy New Year to you all! I hope it is a great year for everyone and your families. Unfortunately, I have some news that might upset a few of you. I have decided to close the business so that I can focus on new things in my life.

I know many of you will be pretty gutted to hear this, but business has been a real struggle these past two years, and working 60+ hours per week with limited time off on weekends has made me rethink things.

It’s been 13 years since I opened that little shop down Trinity House Lane, and it’s been the greatest achievement of my life. I’ve never really been able to grasp what I have made happen, and with the help of the incredible staff I’ve had over the years, we’ve made and sold well over a million pies, catered hundreds of weddings, won multiple awards, and most importantly, given you all great food and moments to treasure. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the love, kindness, and gratitude you have shown me since 2011. It really has made this Pie Man very humble indeed.

There are far too many people to mention everyone, but a special thanks must go to Steph, Carrie, and Cydnee, who have always excelled at our weddings and events over the years, to all the local businesses that have supplied us and helped us along the way. An extra special thank you must go to our baker, Steve, who has worked with me for over 10 years and has been an immense support to me. Pie literally wouldn’t have continued this long without him, and he is genuinely one of the best human beings on this planet. #maybe

We did try to pass the business on to a few people, but it wasn’t quite right for them. However, our bakery would be a great place for someone to take over. If there is anyone out there who is keen, just get in touch. 👍 Thank you for all you have given us.
